Faunal Assemblages of Streams within Kalaupapa National Historic Park

We are inventorying the total biodiversity of three watersheds and their corresponding streams. These streams have different flow frequencies of 100% (Waikolu), 50% (Waialeia) and 2% (Waihanau) from East to West, allowing for an elegant natural experimental design to understand the integrity of these biological assemblages and habitat issues as a function of stream persistence. We are sampling streams at multiple locations and between wet and dry seasons, and comparing stream biodiversity in analyses utilizing complementary data on abiotic and biotic variation across the watersheds, including species lists and significant associations among species and between species and environments.
