We are designing an eDNA detection assay for three subsistence species of Alaskan anadromous fishes: sheefish (Stenodus leucichthys), Humpback whitefish (Coregonus pidschian) and Least cisco (Coregonus sardinella), including generating new genomic resources for each fish species. Surveys of diverse environmental samples have also been collected to determine the best molecular assay for species-specific detection, and to obtain preliminary data on the distribution of the targeted organisms across different environmental gradients.
